south of Nantes, Saint Philbert abbey-church is a unique jewel of 9th
Century Carolingian art, a transition between Latin Art and the Romanesque.
The crypt holds the sarcophage of Saint Philbert, the founding monk
and builder. In the abbey-church gardens, behind the priory, medieval
gardens display Early Middle Ages plants used for food and general purposes
