GARDEN
OF DAOULAS ABBEY
Centre Culturel 29460 Daoulas
The Abbey's medicinal gardens cover a
4,000-sq-m surface area. Installed on southwestern-exposure terraces
surrounded by high walls, these gardens fit into a vast landscaped park.
The architectural concept chosen for the design is a blend of the utilitarian
Middle Age square-shaped beds, the religious order and the regular Renaissance
lines. The 160 species of plants presented are of various origins, each
with subjective qualities and singular virtues.
