GARDEN OF LA COMMANDERIE DES TEMPLIERS DE COULOMMIERS
77120 Coulommiers

The Commanderie des Templiers in Coulommiers, one of the most complete and most remarkable French Templar vestiges North of the Loire River, has been restored and is venue for a large number of cultural events. Designed by Joel Chatain, graduate of Ecole de Versailles School of Landscaping, the garden is patterned with four checker-board thematic beds laid out around the original water well. The public can visit a collection of 250 vegetable species used by the monk soldiers who lived here in the 12th and 13th centuries: aromatics, edible, medicinal, ornamental along with an orchard, a willow plantation and a fruticetum.
