La Gacilly botanical garden is situated within La Gacilly's industrial site, opposite the distribution centre of La Croix des Archers. Offering free access to visitors, this garden was created in 1975 as an integral part of the landscaped estate entirely reorganised in 1998. It is first and foremost an observatory for medicinal herbs and plants that are useful for man. With its wealth of one thousand species classified by main spheres of use, it fulfills two main purposes.
First of all, it is a place for studying and observing plants that may have applications in cosmetics. Every year new species are introduced and studied in collaboration with Yves Rocher Centre International de Recherche bio-végétal in Issy les Moulineaux, near Paris. And it also plays a educational part that is complementary to the Vˇgˇtarium.
The classification and presentation of plants by large categories of use gives the many visitors an introduction to the diversity of the plant world and its numerous spheres of application. Yves Rocher's La Gacilly Botanical Garden is a member of Jardins Botaniques de France (JBF) et des Pays Francophones, as well as Botanical Garden Conservation International (BGCI).
